TERMS & CONDITIONS

All guests are required to read and agree to our guest rules below.
By making a reservation or checking into the Laughing Llama, you hereby agree to
these rules and policies.
These rules are posted on the inside of the front door for reference.
A. Check-In/Check-Out/Quiet Time
1.
Check in after 1PM. If you arrive before this time and your bed is not ready you may leave your personal belongings in the baggage storage area and make use of the common areas of the Hostel.
2.
Check-out 10AM. If you are staying, you must pay for additional nights before this time. Late payments will incur a $2.00 late fee. You may leave your personal belongings in the baggage storage the day of your checkout
3.
Late check-out may be available, please check with staff to arrange.
4.
All guests arriving at the Laughing Llama will be required to present a valid Credit Card and Government Issued Photo ID at check-in.
5.
We only serve bona-fide travelers. For this reason, guests should live outside the Thompson Okanagan area and be visiting the Hostel on a temporary basis. ID will be required to verify traveler status.
6.
Minimum age is 19. See group booking for exception.
7.
Staff and volunteers are available to help guests from 8AM-5PM each day. If you will be leaving before 8AM you must checkout the night before with the staff or you can send a text to the main number.
8.
For after-hours emergencies, please call the main number. The phone is monitored 24 hours a day.
9.
If your door code is not working, please call the main number and the staff member can you let you in remotely. The main number is posted at reception and on the front door.
10.
Quiet time is from 11PM to 7AM. The kitchen is closed during that time.
11.
Laughing Llama cleaning is conducted between the hours of 12PM and 2PM. Please be respectful of our need to clean by making sure your belongings are put away.
B. Reservations & Cancellations
1.
Reserving a room/bed requires a valid credit card upon booking.
2.
Reservations can be canceled without penalty, provided we receive your cancellation request at least 48 hours before 1 PM on your arrival date. If your reservation is not canceled by this time, we will charge an amount equal to the first night for each person in your party.
C. Group Bookings
1.
Please contact us for details if you are interested in booking the entire Laughing Llama facility. The same terms and conditions will apply with the exception of the age restriction. If you are booking the entire Hostel children will be accepted when accompanied by an adult. There must be at least 1 adult in each room to supervise the children.
2.
The person who is named in the booking will be responsible for all guests and their actions.
3.
We do not accept stag or hen (bachelor/bachelorette) groups..
4.
We do not accept pets, with the exception of certified service animals. We require proof of a valid Guide Dog & Service Dog Certification.
D. General Rules
1.
We have a 'no shoe' policy. This includes any shoes including hiking boots, sandals, ski boots etc. If you do not like to go barefoot or wear socks, we have washable slippers for your use while you are staying.
2.
Backpacks/luggage is not to be placed on the beds or stored on the floor. Lockable underbed lockers are provided for each bed for storage of backpacks, luggage, clothing etc. You can bring your own lock or purchase one from reception.
3.
Small portable safes are available for guest use for a charge of $3.00 per day with a deposit of $25.00.
4.
These safes can be used secured to your bed or can be taken out with you and secured to a chair, bike etc. If the safe is not returned the deposit is forfeited.
5.
Bins are provided for each guest to store food items in. One for the fridge and one for the cabinet. Please only store your food in these bins unless it is to be shared in which case you can place it in the shared food areas. Before you check out all stored food is to be removed from the assigned bins.
6.
One laptop computer is provided for guest use. Please do not remove this computer from the common area, it is not to be taken into the rooms.
7.
Open flame or scented devices (candles, incense, etc) are not allowed in the Laughing Llama under any circumstances.
E. Guest Behaviour
1.
Hostels are communal living environments and are unlike private accommodations or hotels. Therefore, we require a great deal of compromise, courtesy, and respect among guests. All facilities are shared, and must always be courteous and respectful to all other guests, the premises, and our neighbors. Therefore, during your stay, it may be necessary to adjust your personal routines and habits if it is helpful to other guests or for the overall good of our community.
2.
Our Hostel is dedicated to social inclusivity and anti-social behavior will not be tolerated. Anti-social behavior includes, but is not limited to, the following traits or behaviors: aggressiveness, rudeness, evasiveness, hostility, poor hygiene, behavior that is inappropriately suggestive/sexual, or excessive impairment related to drugs or alcohol.
3.
Towels, bedding, kitchenware, and entertainment items are all included. Please be respectful and treat the Hostel items as if they were your own.
4.
In consideration of other guests, please take showers quickly. Do not leave soap, shampoo, and other personal items in bathrooms.
5.
Please keep your belongings tidy and wash and put away your dishes immediately after you have finished cooking and eating so fellow guests will have access to the kitchenware and a clean kitchen.
6.
Please store your food in the kitchen and do not bring food or drinks to the rooms. No food or drink is allowed at the guest computer station.
F. Alcohol Policy
1.
If you are of legal age, you may drink socially in the Laughing Llama. However, drunkenness or disruption to other guests is not acceptable.
2.
We do not allow alcohol in the rooms.
3.
If you go out and return after 11 PM, we expect that you keep quiet.
4.
The kitchen is closed after 11 PM.
G. Smoking Policy
1.
The Laughing Llama is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property. If you are a smoker, you will be required to leave the property, please do not dispose of cigarette-buts on the ground in our neighborhood.
Right of Refusal
The Laughing Llama Hostel reserves the right to refuse service and admittance to anyone, as well as to ask anyone to leave if they are violating the above rules or causing discomfort to other guests or staff. By registering to stay at The Laughing Llama Hostel you hereby agree to pay for all charges due and listed on your account. You further agree to hold the company, owners, employees, and volunteers harmless for all accidents, injury, or loss of valuables. You give permission for your video or still image and written comments to be used for marketing purposes. This is shared accommodation and the owner, staff and volunteers have the right to refuse service to anyone in breach of our Terms and Conditions, and you hereby waive any right of tenancy at this address.
